Normal Skin
Characteristics:
- even, soft, smooth texture
- few or no blemishes
- no visible pores or greasy areas
- good skin elasticity
Care:
Normal skin requires cleaning twice a day with a mild facial cleanser, followed by a toner and moisturizer to maintain it. Neglect can lead to signs of aging and wrinkles. Exfoliate once or twice a week with a gentle facial scrub and apply a non-drying mask once or twice a month to stimulate circulation. Be sure to apply sunscreen when outdoors for longer than a few minutes.
Oily & Problem Skin
Characteristics:
- shiny, thick skin
- prone to blackheads, whiteheads & blemishes
- enlarged pores often exuding oil or fat
- few wrinkles or fine lines
Care:
Keep your oily skin very clean by washing it 2 or 3 times a day with hot water & a gentle facial cleanser. Followed by an astringent toner or a light coating of an oil-free moisturizer applied particularly around the eye, mouth and throat area. Use a gentle facial scrub every 2 or 3 days and apply a mud mask at least once a week. Be sure to cleanse your skin after exercise or activities that result in heavy perspiration. In cases of extreme acne, consult your doctor or dermatologist for a topical prescription medication. We also recommend a diet that limits your intake of soft drinks or alcoholic beverages, fatty or fried foods, sugar, chocolate and junk food. Take plenty water, fresh fruits & vegetables.
Dry Skin
Characteristics:
- skin has a thin, flaky, parched look
- fine lines around the eyes & mouth
- skin feels tight & uncomfortable after washing
Care:
Cleanse your dry skin twice a day with an extremely mild facial cleanser & mineral water. Never use hot water or a rough-textured wash cloth on your face. Follow it up with a gentle toner & a rich moisturizer. Maintain a diet rich in Vitamins A & B. Be sure to moisturize before engaging in outdoor activies that expose you to wind and other elements, and always apply sunscreen if you intend to be in the sun for any amount of time.
Combination Skin
Characteristics:
- shiny forehead, nose and chin ("T" spot)
- dry or normal eye areas, cheeks & throat
Care:
Combination skin is very common and requires double attention. For the oily "T" spot, keep this area very clean by washing it 2 or 3 times a day with hot water & a gentle facial cleanser. Followed by an astringent toner or a light coating of oil-free moisturizer. Apply a mud mask to this area at least once a week. For the other areas, clean twice a day with a mild facial cleanser & lukewarm water, followed by a toner and moisturizer. A mud mask need only be applied to this area once or twice a month.
Sensitive Skin
Characteristics:
- skin is dry & thin
- reacts quickly to heat, cold, sun, wind, detergents or fabrics
- prone to allergic reactions
Care:
For sensitive skin, wash your face with a mild facial cleanser. Choose products that do not contain potential allergens such as fragrance or sunscreens with PABA. Rinse thoroughly and pat the skin dry with a soft towel. Use a shave gel as opposed to shave cream. Exercise great prudence when selecting products. Never use any product without first trying a little of it on the inside of your wrist to see the reaction of your skin to it. If you experience any redness or sensation after application, immediately discontinue use.
